Who We Are

Created to meet a vital community need, our studio enables kids to explore and excel in various artistic disciplines. It's a space where creativity is unleashed and every child is seen as a future creator.

We aim to ignite curiosity, spark creativity, and inspire joy through interactive arts education.

Beyond Traditional Education

Creative Joy Studios redefines the arts education landscape with a distinctive blend of interactive and immersive learning experiences. Our approach is rooted in engaging all senses, encouraging children to dive deep into the worlds of music, visual arts, and movement. Here's how we stand apart:

Educational Philosophy

At Creative Joy Studios, we believe every child is an artist and a musician, no matter how small. The best way for children to develop their creativity is to provide lessons that help them build their confidence in their artistry. We are born to be creative, and it is a gift from the ultimate Creator, God.

The instructors at Creative Joy Studios have developed a curriculum that meets your child's developmental level. Beautiful artwork and music activities foster a creative and exciting environment.

In our art classes, students experience various art techniques and mediums, learning about the elements of art: line, color, texture, value, form, shape, and space. They explore how famous artists used these elements in their unique ways. We don't just teach replication; we encourage students to create art in their own voice.

Our music classes teach students to sing beautiful songs from various cultures and learn music theory through movement, composition, and instrument playing. Julia Hayes, the owner, uses the Orff-Schulwerk Process and Dalcroze Eurhythmics to bring a deeper understanding of music concepts. Students learn critical musical skills like keeping a steady beat, understanding tempo and dynamic markings, reading and playing rhythms, and experiencing different modes of music.

Why Creative Joy Studios

Distinct from other children's activity and education businesses, Creative Joy Studios offers a unique blend of art, music, and movement, fostering an atmosphere of curiosity, creativity, and learning. We engage all senses, inviting students to play, experiment, and establish links between different art forms and creative techniques. What is "Orff"?

The Orff philosophy was developed by German composer and music educator Carl Orff and associate Gunild Keetman and focuses on allowing students to learn by doing what they already enjoy. Children learn to hear and make music before they learn to read and write it, much like how they learn spoken language. Orff includes activities that all kids like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance, and play instruments. Musical concepts, vocabulary, form, harmony and expressive qualities, pitch matching, and listening skills are taught in a joyful, game-like atmosphere. By starting with Orff (and then adding composition with Orff classes around the age of 8), timing, listening, and musicality are jump-started so the child is given the best chance for a lifetime of music-making pleasure!

What is "Dalcroze Eurhythmics"?

Eurhythmics was developed by Swiss composer and music educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze. Eurhythmics develops musicianship through singing, improvising, and purposeful and creative movement. Active music-making is the core of this philosophy, supporting children's conceptual and affective development. Active learners develop a thorough, long-term understanding of the material and concepts they study. Children who regularly improvise and create their own movements and musical settings are exceptionally well prepared to solve problems in many other contexts.

Participants in the eurhythmics approach experience a spiral curriculum that takes the learner from:
